You never know what is going to happen, and you certainly never know what time of day or night you might have to deal with emergency situations that happen. However, if you are prepared, you might be able to save the life of your beloved dog. When it comes to Jack Russell care, it is important to know several things.
Emergency Care Tips
First of all, try to stay calm. If your dog has had an accident, injury, or is sick in some way, the best thing that you can do for you and to care for your Jack Russell, is to be calm. Getting over excited, screaming, yelling, or sobbing will not help you care for your Jack Russell. You should stay calm, and assess the situation first.
See what kinds of things you can notice about what is wrong with your Jack Russell. Are there any obvious signs of injury, such as obviously broken bones, bleeding, or cuts or other types of injury? Make a list in your head about what you can see that is obviously wrong with your Jack Russell, and make it in the simplest terms possible. Also, make a simple list of what you know has happened to your dog. Putting these two small lists together simply and quickly in your head is a very important step.
Next, when it comes to emergency Jack Russell care, call the vet or the emergency services. Give them your name, your dog’s name, and then tell them in the simplest fashion 1, what has happened to your dog, and 2, what injuries you can see on your dog. Stay calm. Answer any questions, and do what the person tells you to do.
Emergency Care And Transport
It might be that your dog is bleeding profusely. If this is the case, you need to control the bleeding so you can get your Jack Russell for care to the vet. Apply pressure to any open wounds that are bleeding profusely. Leave any wounds that are not bleeding profusely alone, unless you have to cover them for transport. Try not to move the dog any more than necessary. If you have to transport him to a vet, use a blanket as a stretcher. Gently move the dog onto the blanket. Try to keep him in the same position. Using two or more people, carry the blanket to the car and put it gently onto the seat. Get to the vet as soon as possible.
