No more then twice a month, unless he gets really dirty. Too much bathing can really dry out their skin.

it depends on how stinky they r!

about every week or two, not too much cuz their hair isnt very long so it doesnt get smelly as fast as other dogs. also b/c too much washing and shampoo drys out their skin

To keep your dog tick/flea free and have healthy coat you should bath once a week. Remember there is no such thing as a too clean of a dog.

i had a jack russel..i bathed him every week. it might be better to do it every 2 weeks though so that he/she doesnt get a skin rash.

i was told by the vet to bath my dog only once every 2-3 weeks.. if you bath your dog to often the dogs skin will dry out

No more than once every month, because they have some kind of oil on their skin and if you wash them too much they can get skin problems. I know that you want to give them a bath all the time though, they shed a lot.(my mom has one).lol

the thing you need to rember is that dogs with short hair like jacks and boxers (i have a boxer) is that unless you have a flea problem the best shampoo to use on them is baby shampoo. it's gentle enough to use on them every 2 weeks and usually won't dry out their skin. thats the best thing to do in the winter time. now in the summer always rember to wait three days after you put on their flea meds that way they don't wash off. i usually use the most mildest flea shampoo possible because if your jack is anything like my boxer he will be wet all the time. just rember to watch for signs of skin problems and you should be fine.

More than once a month is a bit much. Every 3 days is completely insane and totally unnecessary. Your dog's skin will be irritated by overwashing – of course, noone should have to live with a stinky dog, but keep the baths to a minimum. Good luck!

Instead of bathing the dog often, you would be better off brushing it. Unless he/she has rolled in summat unsavoury! My Jack Russell is bathed only when absolutely necessary as it is not natural. They like a swim so if u live near water, let him.

Baths, with shampoo, will dry out your dog's skin and can cause problems related with that.

If you are not showing your dog or have any other reason for keeping your dog -clean- there is no point in actually giving your dog a bath too often.

If he gets muddy or unsavory, just wash him down with a hose, no shampoo…

Grooming is far more important. Giving him a good brush will remove most dirt marks once the muck is dry as well as giving him a massage and oiling his hair – all of which is beneficial – unlike baths.

I never bath my dogs, unless they have been rolling in something really foul and I have to hose them down or send them for a swim in the river. I'm not sure why a very short coated dog like a JRT would need bathing very often at all. I am fostering one at the moment and I know he won't be going in the bath any time soon!

Dog Bathing the fun way. Once a month take dog to river, throw in stick. Coat dog with suitable shampoo, throw in stick again. Dry dog thoroughly. No wet house or owner and one happy, well exercised clean dog.

Bathing is not necessary for dogs. brushing will remove dirt fom the coat, but keep him familiar with the idea of a bath every 6 months so he doesn't forget the experience or he may kick off if you do need to bathe him.
