How Often Should You Give a Jack Russell Terrier a Bath?

We have one and so do my in-laws. They give theirs a bath sometimes as often as every week, whereas we bathe ours only about once a month… how often should we bathe Jack Russell Terriers?

Once a month is fine. I wash my JRT when I notice that the white in her coat is starting to take on a yellowy tinge or earlier when she starts to smells. It normally works out to be about once a month or every other month. Definitely don't wash her every week. This will sap the skin of essential oils needed to keep it nice and soft instead of dry and flaky.

    This is NOT breed specific, but a dog should be washed no more than once a month. Washing a dog too often can dry out the coat and skin issues could ensue.

    Once a Month is good once a week is to much it will dry out there skin and cause it to be irratated you can buy Pet wet wipes and wipe them down to help out in between baths

    The little dogs that are shorthaired and close to the ground tend to get dirtier and smellier quicker. When ever you notice the dog itching itself alot or if the dog smells then bathe it. Just dont bathe it too often because its not good for it's coat. Try to always give it a good bath every month or so.

    every other week..especially if it rains.. if it rains and the dog smells like rain take a dryer sheet works!!!! good luck!!

    Once a month is enough. Bathing a dog too much can strip away the natural oils from the coat, which can make the coat less weather resistant and can also cause skin condtions, or irritation.

    I would say a good brush once a week with a hand glove. And a bath every 1-2 months, depending on how greasy the coat feels, the smell and how clean it looks at the time.

    There is no benefit to a dog in bathing all the time. A JR should only be bathed if he's really smelly, they are easy enough to brush regularly and bathing any dog too often can lead to dry skin and other skin disorders. A dog's skin secretes oils which are there for a purpose and every time he is bathed, these are washed out.

    once a week is too often and can cause dry skin..

    non-shedding dogs need to be bathed every 6-8 weeks only because they need to be clean when they get their hair cuts or it will wreck the clippers – all other dogs can manage being washed only once a year… or twice… or never…

    Continue giving her a bath once every month. If you give her a bath more than once a month, she'll get itchy and have really dry skin. Also, she will lose the natural oils from her coat.
