   12 weeks when you get home, you leash and walk in back yard that no other dog can get to

   You can start walking your dog anytime after 8 weeks of age. Since jack Russell’s are naturally energetic and prone to tantrums if not exercised frequently I would suggest for now, one 30 minute walk per day. Then 2 30 minute walks per day after he/she reaches 4 months..I would keep this 2 walk a day routine EVERYDAY for as long as your pet feels up to it.

   If you got your puppy from a reputable breeder he/she may have already collar and leash broke the pup( I do). So You can then begin to walk your pup in your yard for short periods of time, 10 to 20 minutes.
   You must be careful to stay clear of areas that other dogs have been in case you dog does not have all shots.

   If the pup is younger, start as soon as you get him/her getting used to a collar, then the leash.
   And then walking.

   Start getting the pup used to wearing a collar & leash around the house.
   Wait until the puppy has completed all his vaccination shots at approc 12-14 weeks… and then wait 2 more weeks (approx 16 weeks old) before taking the pup out in public.

   Then, the general rule for walkies is 5 mins walk for every month of age.
   So… a 4 month old dog would get a 20 minute walk.
